Medoc Natural Genius was created by Michele De Lucchi and Philippe Nigro. Its original and unmistakable trapezoidal shape draws on the tapered shape of wooden logs. At the same time, Medoc's design creates visual continuity with old planks, "when planks were not straightened so as to avoid wasting wood unnecessarily". The imprecise sawn cut surface (or sawn wood technique) requested by the designers enhances the light effects, the tactile feeling and 3D effect of Listone Giordano's French Oak. The colour shades obtained with natural oil-based treatments give Oak a distressed look by simulating the effects of exposure to the elements.

The power of imagination is able to transform a tree into a pure geometric form reminiscent of New York’s atmospheres in the early 1900s. After stripping away all that is superfluous, what remains is the elegant rhythm of lines and backgrounds that draw a balanced grid where life flows. ” Only If you have the courage of doing something new, of crossing the borders, can you experiment with new knowledge”. This is the driving force behind the work of Matteo Thun. The Milanese architect and designer was born and raised in the bilingual German and Italian region of South Tyrol, in Italy. After studying with Oskar Kokoschka at the University of Architecture in Florence, he co-founded the ‘Memphis’ group in Milan in 1981 with Ettore Sottsass. In 1984 he set up his own studio in Milan, then in 2001 he founded Matteo Thun & Partners.
